To locate a minor who is in custody the jail itself can be contacted by phone or email. The goal of the detention center is to help rehabilitate youth while protecting them and their health and safety for the time they are in custody. Children are removed from the care of their parents only when necessary, and they are allowed family visits and phone calls while a youth is housed within the detention center. They are provided health care and mental health support as well as many opportunities to engage in safe and planned activities. It is also a focus to protect the rights of the youth being detained, as well as those of their families and the community that surrounds them.
