On this page, you'll find information on inmate services, including the visitation schedule, funding an inmate's account, sending mail, receiving phone calls, voicemail, emailing and texting, tablet rentals, bail bond instructions, and commissary purchases.

About the Greene County Detention Center

Situated right in town, the 96 bed Greene County Detention Center and Greene County Sheriff Office share a building where all offenders, both misdemeanor and felony, are booked and held as they wait for their trial. With most inmates being in the jail for less than one year, short sentences may also be served here. In addition to the local offenders, other counties may access these services for their own inmates when they run out of space, and this program brings in a bit of money to support the programming that is in place.

Medical professionals are available to meet full medical needs of all inmates, meals are provided, mental health care is provided, and there are services in place to ensure that inmates may remain in contact with their friends and family members who are awaiting their release.

Mail is routed through a post office box so only letters and postcards are accepted, with both the correct mailing address and a return address easily visible on the envelope. Letters must be 10 pages or less, must have no additional markings or items on or in the envelope, no polaroids are permitted, but hand written or typed pages (and a photograph of appropriate content) is allowed.
