About the Currituck County Detention Center

With a capacity of 62 inmates the Currituck County Detention Center houses all offenders of Currituck County, including felony and misdemeanor charges for male, female, and juvenile inmates to wait for their trial or serve their sentence.  All of the inmates will be housed in an appropriate cell based upon their gender, seriousness of charges, history of serious charges, and other factors. They will also be provided with all needed medical care and mental health services, along with opportunities to grow and improve social and life skills.

Upon intake, the booking process is completed, which includes a medical screening, fingerprinting and mugshots, DNA sample, along with an assessment to determine security needs, medical needs, mental health requirements, and housing assignment.

Phones are provided for outgoing calls which can be made collect, and visits are permitted on Saturdays with female inmates' visits at 8am to 11am, and Block D 3pm-4pm, and male inmates on Sundays 8am-11am and 1pm-4pm.
