The Cumberland Regional Juvenile Detention Center is a secure detention facility for juveniles who have been arrested and are waiting for their court date, who have been determined to require detention until their trial has ended, or who are waiting for a transfer to an alternative location. It offers short term detention, and during any length of stay there will be frequent court appointments to consider all alternatives to detention, including probation, home monitoring, and non-secure detention. This facility has 18 beds and houses both male and female juveniles, maintaining staff to have gender appropriate supervision at all times. Throughout their stay they will be provided with healthy meals and snacks, education that follows public schools nearby, and all medical and dental care. Counseling, substance abuse treatment, and other mental health care is provided by contract care providers or those who are within the facility. Additional learning opportunities are provided to develop life skills and to work on social skills, along with other methods of self-improvement and development. Each resident will be provided with a plan specific to their needs to assist in the ways that will benefit them the most and provide the best chance of success outside of the facility.
