About the Chatham County Detention Center

In Chatham County all detention services are provided through the 120-bed Chatham County Detention Center.

This location provides full services and is where offenders will reside while they await sentencing or during their sentence when all diversion programs have been unsuccessful. Diversion programs include community service, home monitoring, and in school diversion programs are offered in the county.

Upon arrest each detainee will be assessed and treated for immediate medical or mental health interventions, after which a plan will be formed for their ongoing medical needs, access to mental health support and counseling, and determination of which of the housing units they will reside in.
