Westchester County Juvenile Detention Center Information

Westchester County contracts their secure juvenile detention services to The Children’s Village. They offer secure detention as well as all the necessary services for anyone within the detention facility. This includes medical care, clinical services, educational services and ongoing classes, transportation, food services, and providing security. The environment is designed to encourage personal growth, life skills, social skills, and responsibility. The facility accepts both juvenile delinquents and juvenile offenders who are placed at the location by the Family Court, dropped off by the police, or who are assigned there for probation. A GED testing station is located at the facility to allow for those who are finishing their high school education either within the facility or in the community. In addition, they are also contracted to provide non-secure detention through The Children’s Village Family Court Assistance Program. Within this program there is assistance and aftercare services for juveniles and their families. Before they are assigned to the program the diversions to detention will be attempted, and probation will be tried, but where those programs are not successful detention will result. Mail: Once the youth arrive at their assigned housing, they will be permitted to send and receive letters from their immediate family in most circumstances. Only those who are within the facility and their parents or guardians may be provided with the address of the location. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Westchester County Juvenile Detention Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
