About the Morris County Correctional Facility

Morris County Sheriff’s Office operates the Morris County Correctional Facility that houses 524 inmates in a building that stands over 6 stories tall. The 277 cells are situated in 8 different housing pods, allowing inmates to be housed in the safest manner possible.

To meet the needs of the inmates there are several divisions and programs available including a full kitchen, laundry, K-9 kennels, large intake area with holding cells, and a medical facility.

There are also several programs for recreation, education, and religion, allowing inmates to gain new skills and to maintain their current beliefs during their incarceration. Programs include GED and pre-GED classes, basic literacy, both individual and family counseling are available, along with resource referrals, discharge planning, commissary, and a work program for onsite projects.

The Hope Wing is a section of the jail, in its own wing, that has a focus on drug and alcohol addiction recovery and has daily programs for preventing relapse, manage anger, education, developing healthy relationships, peer counseling, and other targeted programs and systems to work towards healthy rehabilitation.

Advanced features of the facility allow for court dates to be attended from the jail via teleconference, many of which are broadcast so friends and family can watch the proceedings, an advanced fingerprinting system and centralized computer system that operates the security throughout the facility, and the newest surveillance systems.

A Sheriff’s Labor Assistance Program offers the opportunity for some inmates to complete tasks and labor for the community as part of their sentence, and the successful transition and reintegration program to improve the experience of inmates when they are released at the end of their sentence.

To access the commissary an account can be created online, and a phone account to make outgoing calls to friends and family with phones being available in the common areas and accessible throughout the day.

Visits are provided, and each floor of the facility will have a different day and time, which may also vary depending upon the month. The visitation schedule must be confirmed before planning a visit, but all will occur Saturday through Tuesday, beginning no earlier than 9am and ending by 9pm.

Postcards
The Morris County Correctional Facility allows inmates to receive pre-metered postcards like the type purchased from the post office. They may also allow certain photo postcards as long as they have not been tampered with or contain images that may be considered to be obscene or violent in nature.

 


Envelopes
The Morris County Correctional Facility allows envelopes to be mailed to inmates as well. They must be white. All mail must have a full return address in top left corner of envelope. No greeting cards allowed. Do not enclose extra envelopes or stamps.

Local or national newspapers are NOT allowed.



Magazines

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.



Books
The Morris County Correctional Facility allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address above.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Morris County Correctional Facility standards will be disposed of. No more than three books may be shipped at any one time.
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.

  Select the Photos Tab.
2. Select “Take New Photo” or “Upload New Photo”.
3. Take a new photo with your webcam, or select "Choose File" to upload a photo from your computer.
4. Give your photo a Title or add it to the "Gallery" of your choice.
5. Select the "Share" button.
6. Select your inmate(s) and then select "Share".
7. Once the photo is approved, it will be shared with your inmate(s).
