Monmouth County Youth Detention Center Information

Monmouth County contracts with the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center for the housing of their juvenile offenders, those who have been arrested and are being held for their court date, or those who have been recommended to the facility by the court for a set period of time. While they are at the facility, they are treated the same as those from other counties, as the facility houses juveniles from Monmouth County, Middlesex County, Somerset County, and Mercer County. Housing units are used to keep the juveniles grouped by gender, age, and any history of behavioral concerns during detention. They will recieve full meals, laundry, bedding, clothing, writing supplies, medical care, dental care, and mental health treatments. Education continues and is on pace with the local public schools so no youth will fall behind. The county also has detention alternatives located in Freehold, NJ, that use house arrest, electronic monitoring, shelter programs, as well as community service, probation, and other alternatives to detention. These programs offer minor offences to avoid detention and keep the juveniles home with their families instead of serving in the detention center. Mail: Address all mail to the juvenile at: P.O. Box 7164 New Brunswick, NJ 08902 A full return name and address must be present. Phones: Juveniles are permitted to contact immediate family including parents or guardians. Visitation: Visiting hours are provided to the parents or guardians of residents, with at least one visit being provided each week
