About the Monmouth County Correctional Institution

Not only does the Monmouth Correctional Facility focus on the safe incarceration of offenders, but also of being a part of the system that improves their success rates after release. Programs are in place to help inmates to further their education, learn coping and life skills, addictions treatments, and use alternative sentencing techniques when possible.

Alternative Sentences allow for inmates to have flexibility in how they serve their sentence, as well as improved results from probation and conditional releases.

Both professional and well trained correctional staff and civilian staff are used to operating the facility and they work together to get the best results for both the community and the inmates.

The top capacity of the facility is over 1300 and uses a detailed classification system to ensure each inmate ends up in the pod that will best suit them.

There is exercise provided both indoors and out, a law library to help learn about their own case and defense, and the ability to have visits from friends and family.

Some beds are used by other local facilities when they are reaching capacity, to ensure that all inmates have a suitable housing option.

For inmates who qualify there is an inmate labor program that uses the time and skills of current low risk inmates to complete jobs around the community.

The Monmouth County Correctional Institution allows envelopes to be mailed to inmates. They must be white. All mail must have a full return address in top left corner of envelope.
Envelopes received must be white in color and no larger than a standard #10 envelope (4-1/8″ x 9-1/2″).
Any contraband (i.e.: food, plastic, wood, cigarettes, Polaroid pictures, decorative stickers, nude pictures, cash, personal checks, photographs printed on photo paper, greeting cards, anything written or drawn with crayon, anything marked with lipstick) shall be sent back “Return to Sender”. Note:   Color and/or black and white copies of photographs printed on standard paper only will be permitted.

Newspapers
No newspapers allowed.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Monmouth County Correctional Institution allows books to be mailed directly to the jail ONLY from Barnes & Noble.
You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address above.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Monmouth County Correctional Institution standards will be disposed of. No more than three books may be shipped at any one time.
