The St. Charles County Juvenile Center serves many purposes throughout the county when interacting with the juvenile justice system. It provides temporary housing or holding for juveniles as they await a court appearance, or if they are waiting for a transfer to another location. Any juvenile who is under the age of 18 and is arrested will be processed and attend court date within the first few days to determine if they will remain in detention until their adjudication or fi they will be permitted to return home with the promise to appear at their court date. Those who have not attended their past court dates will be detained until their court appearance. Directly after an arrest and booking they are permitted a phone call to parents or guardians, and they will be able to call at least one day each week for the length of their detention. Programs are provided to improve decision making, learn new life skills, develop improved social skills, and to manage any addictions or substance abuse, anger management, and other programs.   • Inmates are allowed one 60-minute non-contact visit every other week.
  • Visitation time is determined by housing unit and is scheduled by the inmate.
  • There is a maximum of four visitors. Only two at a time may visit.
  • All visitors must arrive at least 15 minutes early and have with them a valid photo I.D. (except for accompanied children under age 16).
  • Individuals 16 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult that is at least 21 years old.
  • Children must be supervised at all times. 
  • Inmates must complete a visitation list for each visiting session specifying who they want to visit with.
  • Only the persons listed by the inmate will be allowed to visit them. 
  • It is the inmate / detainee’s responsibility to complete the list.
  • Requests for Special Visits are typically reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.
