Housing up to 24 juveniles who are between the ages of 12 and 16 years old, the Greene County Juvenile Detention Center is located in Springfield, Missouri. Accepting both male and female juveniles, it operates at a maximum security level, ensuring the safety and security not only of the residents but also of the staff and the community. It also participates in the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative that works to offer alternatives to i8ncarceration of juveniles and approaches each resident with respect and compassion. On average there is a daily population of 8 and the average stay for a resident is 10 days, allowing for them to have privacy, space, and one on one attention from the teachers during school hours. Medical staff provide a full assessment shortly after a resident is admitted and continue to provide ongoing medical care and testing as needed, including immunizations that may otherwise be missed due to their detention. Dental services are also provided from preventative care and cleanings to fillings and extractions. Also onsite are victim advocate services and mental health services that support the health of all residents and assist them in preparing to rejoin their community. Mail: 1111 N.
