The R. Kenneth Elliot Children’s Justice Center is located in Liberty, Missouri, and is the facility that houses prevention services, intervention services, child protection services, and others. Working closely with social services, law enforcement, and schools, the facility offers services to juveniles who are in need, who require detention and housing for delinquent conduct, and those who have committed status offenses such as drinking or driving offenses. It follows a philosophy of restorative justice which may include community services or restitution. A transitios center offers support to the juveniles who are preparing to leave the facility and reintegrate into their community to ensure they are able to do so successfully. School will be provided by licensed teachers who attend the facility, mental health support is provided by trained mental health professionals, and medical staff will attend the facility to care for all medical needs of any of the residents. Dental care is also provided, and for outside medical appointments transportation will be provided and parents may attend the appointments.
