About the Andrew County Jail

Located on the outskirts of town, the large white and grey building that houses the Andrew County Sheriff Office and the 84-bed Andrew County Jail has sally ports in the back, a fenced recreation yard on the side, visitor parking, and is secured for the safety of the staff and the community.

It is at the Andrew County Jail that offenders who are arrested on either misdemeanor or felony charges in Andrew County and it is here they will both wait for their trial and serve their sentence.

To locate an offender the online roster is updated frequently and staff can be reached by phone to provide guidance on bail, visits, and other procedures.

After booking, inmates are able to have specific items dropped off for their personal use, but it must be within the first 48 hours. Prescription medications and glasses, envelopes and stamps for legal mail, court documents for the current case, up to 5 photos with no nudity, 5 pairs each of white underwear and socks, tshirts, and 2 pairs of white long underwear during the winter, and female inmates may have sports bras.

With a capacity of 84 beds, there are 7 cell blocks, maximum security holding cells, medium security holding cells, and 2 low risk holding areas, and one of the cell blocks is designed for those who are being investigated and have not yet been through their trial or sentencing. \

Trustee and work release programs are offered, allowing inmates to either work in the jail and keep busy during the days, or maintain outside employment by going to work every day and returning each night.

Money can be provided on the inmate account to fund their purchases of hygiene items and additional needs, and this can be completed at a kiosk that is in the lobby of the jail or online.

Mail can be sent to inmates during incarceration with each piece of mail being opened and inspected for contraband before final delivery and the post cards that are sent in reply will also be checked before released to the post office.

Phones are available during the day and can be funded through the program that also allows access to ebooks and other services and educational opportunities, as well as through a phone account.

Onsite visits are provided Saturday and Sunday 8:30am-11:30am and 1:00pm-4:30pm, while offsite visits can occur Monday through Friday 11:00am-8:00pm through an online account.

Set up Flash, then restart your computer and then go to Google Chrome on your desktop or laptop computer and log on to Inmate Canteen.
    Steps Inmate canteen Visitation:
    1. Go to www.inmatecanteen.com on a computer (not supported on mobile devices i.e. tablets, cell phones, etc)
    2. Log in, select your inmate, and select the Video Visit an Inmate option.
    3. You will be required to fill out a form, submit a driver's license picture and a picture of your face. Once submitted, Andrew County Jail will either approve or deny it.
    4. Once approved you will be all set to video visit!
    NOTES: Make sure you are allowing flash player to run in google chrome by selecting the lock icon to left of the browser. Flash Player needs to be set to “allow”. Then you can refresh the page and it should be good to go. If flash player is being blocked you will not be able to take a picture or see any video during the visitation.
