About the Rice County Jail

The current two facilities that create the Rice County Jail have been replaced by a new Rice County Public Safety Center that will increase the capacity for Rice County from the current 71 to 76. It is expected to be completed and open in 2024, with all programs and services that are currently in place transferring to the new building.

During any amount of time incarcerated there are services provided for all medical needs, mental health care, healthy meals, access to recreational activities, and educational opportunities.

During their stay there may be a need for additional hygiene items, recreational items, or clothing, which can be purchased through the commissary as it is funded online.

This also permits funding of the video visits that may be accessed at home or at the visitation kiosk in the lobby.

To receive calls from an inmate their communication account can be funded online, and they will be able to make outgoing calls only during the daytime hours from after breakfast until lights out, access emails, and make video calls when they have time.
