⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessThe current two facilities that create the Rice County Jail have been replaced by a new Rice County Public Safety Center that will increase the capacity for Rice County from the current 71 to 76. It is expected to be completed and open in 2024, with all programs and services that are currently in place transferring to the new building.
During any amount of time incarcerated there are services provided for all medical needs, mental health care, healthy meals, access to recreational activities, and educational opportunities.
During their stay there may be a need for additional hygiene items, recreational items, or clothing, which can be purchased through the commissary as it is funded online.
This also permits funding of the video visits that may be accessed at home or at the visitation kiosk in the lobby.
To receive calls from an inmate their communication account can be funded online, and they will be able to make outgoing calls only during the daytime hours from after breakfast until lights out, access emails, and make video calls when they have time.

Newspapers may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher.
Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Rice County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Rice County Jail standards will be disposed of.
