About the Ramsey County Correctional Facility

Within Ramsey County there are two adult jails, the Adult Detention Center and this, the 500-bed Ramsey County Correctional Facility, both of which house male and female inmates. However, this facility houses the inmates who are sentenced up to a year while the other is mostly those who are waiting for their sentencing or their trial.

While incarcerated at Ramsey County Correctional Facility there are many services that are provided, including healthy meals, clean laundry, storing personal items and court appropriate clothing, and programs that will assist in building life and social skills.

Inmates are classified based upon their interview and will be assigned a security and custody level that will determine their housing assignment based upon their risks and the needs of care.

Caseworkers will follow up and ensure that they remain in the correct area, have access to the services they need, and ensure that all necessary and beneficial treatments are provided.

A wide variety of programming is present to ensure that all inmates have access to their GED, reading, basic education, receive treatments for recovery and substance abuse, and develop new skills.

What is the Cost of a Remote Video Visit?
Costs vary and are subject to change, but generally visits range from $5.00 to $15.00 for a 15 to 30 minute online or on-site video visit.

How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?
The Securus system knows the times that Ramsey County Correctional Facility inmates are available for remote video visits.
It will not allow you to schedule a visit with your inmate if they are not available or the video visitation kiosk(s) in the jail are booked already.
Once you schedule a visit with your inmate they will be notified of the date and time of the visit.

The Ramsey County Correctional Facility allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Ramsey County Correctional Facility standards will be disposed of.
