About the Nobles County Jail

All offenders, both misdemeanor and felony, who are arrested in Nobles County will be booked and held at the 90-bed Nobles County Jail as they wait for their trial or for bail, and as they serve a short sentence that will see them released in under a year.

All of the necessary care is provided to inmates, including meals, laundry, clothing, bedding, a clean place to sleep, showers and hygiene supplies, full medical care and mental health care. In addition to the available mental health care, inmates are encouraged to maintain contact with those who will support them after they are released, as this improves mental health of both the family and the inmate, and in turn the jail remains safer for both inmates and staff.

Contact may be maintained through mail, accepting phone calls, and attending visits when possible, as well as the additional support of adding money to their accounts for commissary, phone, and other purchases.

Money may be added to the account of an inmate through the online portal or by taking a money order to the jail itself, or finally by accessing the kiosk in the lobby of the Nobles County Jail to pay with cash or credit card.

Staff are unable to take messages for inmates and the phones in housing units do not accept incoming calls, so to leave a message there is a message line 507-407-2017.

Phone cards may also be purchased for making calls through the commissary account or online.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Nobles County Jail?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Nobles County Jail uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Nobles County Jail first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
