About the Mower County Jail

The concrete and glass Mower County Justice Center includes both the Mower County Sheriff’s Office and the 88-bed Mower County Jail. Both misdemeanor and felony offenders are housed at this location, and they will remain both during their wait for trial as well as during any short sentence that is shorter than a year.

Many programs are operated throughout the building including activity focused programs, reformative programs providing knowledge and skills, and reintegration programs that assist inmates in returning to their community. Each program is focused on providing inmates with tools they need to build a future that is successful and comfortable without a return to jail in the future.

A work release program is in place that allows approved and qualified inmates to maintain their outside employment or education while they are incarcerated by leaving the jail each day to work and returning at the end of their shift. Others may be sentenced to service and will be completing community service and other tasks for the county.

For any questions about the programs or inmates the staff can be contacted by phone at 507-437-9562 and an online roster shows the status of all inmates throughout the Mower County Jail.

Mail can be sent to inmates at the jail directly at:

Books, paperback only, and newspapers must be sent through the US Postal Service directly from the publisher and will not be accepted from an individual or residential return address.

Messages are able to be left for an inmate at 507-481-3131 but no direct incoming calls and staff will not pass on messagages.
