To meet the needs of each inmate there are several items provided including food, clothing, bedding, hygiene items, and programs such as AA, women’s groups, educational programs, and both medical and mental health needs as well as dental care.

As the main jail, Itasca County Jail has a top capacity of 59 inmates and was completed in 1982, having been in full operation since.
Inmates are provided with time and access for phone calls as one of their privileges in the jail, and this can be paused or revoked due to behavior. An account can be created online by family or friends to enable and pay for the phone calls they receive, with no incoming calls permitted to the building. There is, however, access to a phone number to make calls to the facility and leave a voice mail for an inmate to 218-212-3210.
Canteen or commissary purchases are also available and can be added to, and inmates will be able to use those funds for postage paid envelopes, soft drinks, snacks, and hygiene accounts among other items.

Visits are available both onsite in the lobby or offsite via online access, and can be scheduled and accessed online but require 24 hour notice to be approved.
Onsite visits occur Tuesday 9am-11:30am, Thursday 1pm-4pm, and Sunday 1pm-4pm with 40 minutes being allowed each day, and offsite visits are also 40 minutes per day but are accessible every day of the week 9am-10:30am, 1pm-4pm, and 7pm-9pm.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
