Juveniles in Benton County who are waiting for their court date, who are newly arrested, being held as a danger to themselves or others in the community, or who are assigned detention or treatment by the court will find themselves sin the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center. At risk youth may tour the facility by appointment, they run on Saturdays at 10am, and allow for the youth to see the facility, learn about the rules and restrictions, and use the opportunity to change their decision making to avoid being detained in the future. Once a juvenile has been arrested and charged, they will go through a booking process and orientation, they will be permitted a 15 minute visit with their parents within 24 hours of arrest. A drug or alcohol assessment may be conducted, as well as a medical check and mental health assessment. All needed treatments will be provided by the facility, both medical and dental and mental health. Mail: Juveniles will only be permitted to write and receive letters from parents, guardians, or grandparents, through the postal system, and it will all be scanned and delivered electronically. Phones: Only parents, grandparents, and grandparents are permitted to receive calls from the juveniles in the facility. Pretrial residents may make one 10 minute phone call per day, delinquent and FINS have one per week on Wednesdays between 7pm and 9pm. Visitation: Monday through Friday 6:AM – 9:PM Each person is allowed one 30 minute visit on each of the visitation days, and they must be scheduled with the staff at extension 0.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Benton County Juvenile Detention Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Benton County Juvenile Detention Center standards will be disposed of.
