The facility, built in 2018, has minimum, medium, and maximum security areas allowing them to meet all the needs of the community with inmates staying up to one year. The recently constructed, 47,000 square foot Becker County Jail features over 200 security cameras, covering every area of the facility, plus 12 cells, specifically for disabled offenders.

This location also runs the alternatives to detention including Sentencing to Service which provide community service jobs during the day, and Work Release that allows inmates to work outside of the jail and retain their employment in the community as they report back to the jail each night. State and other work release inmates may also be at this location to engage in the program.
Other programs are included in the facility that will provide access to education, religion, improving social and life skills, and others. Medical and mental health care are both provided, and they will meet all other needs of inmates including healthy meals, laundry, cleaning, recreation, commissary, and access to communication with those who are not incarcerated.
A commissary account is created for each inmate after their arrival, and this allows them to access writing materials, hygiene items, recreation items, and others, and this fund can be added to by their friends or family.

Access to phones is provided from 7am until 10pm and inmates will be able to make outgoing calls. While not able to accept incoming calls there is a line you can call to leave a voicemail for your inmate: 218-325-0635.
Phones may be paid for via phone cards inmates can purchase at the kiosk with their commissary account or be purchased by family or friends online.
To visit an inmate it is necessary to use the video system and create an account online with onsite visits occurring in the lobby Wednesday (by appointment) 9am-11am, Wednesday 6pm-9pm, and Saturday 9:30am – 12:30pm, with online visiting being 10:30am-12:30pm on Monday through Friday and 7pm-9pm on Monday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
