About the Oceana County Jail

With the capacity of 66 inmates, both male and female, misdemeanor and felony charges, the 66-bed Oceana County Jail in Hart, Michigan houses all offenders arrested in Oceana County as they wait for bail, their trial, or are serving a very short sentence of less than one year.

The small capacity limits the number of inmates who will serve any portion of their sentence at this location, and most will be transferred to a larger facility. Found in the sheriff’s department, the jail is operational around the clock all year and uses the VINELINK system to report updates on inmates, and for further details the staff are able to answer questions on procedures and programs.

To pay the bond for an inmate at any time of day there is online access which will allow them to be released sooner.

All of the basic needs and care are provided, including clothing, bedding, laundry, meals, exercise, recreation, social interactions, educational opportunities, and life skills programs.

There are also 30 minute visits for each inmate, which must be scheduled in advance, and there is a fee for all offsite visits. Offsite or remote visits may be scheduled any day between 8am and 11pm, and onsite visits at the kiosk in the jail lobby will need to occur Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday between 1pm and 4pm.

To provide financial support to an inmate their family and their friends are able to add money to their commissary account or they are able to order items directly, or by visiting the jail itself and depositing money at the kiosk located there. Mail is sent to the jail itself and will be opened and checked for any contraband, adult conversation, inappropriate imagery, and other banned objects or additions.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Oceana County Jail?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use an Express Account self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Oceana County Jail uses Express Account to process all online deposits to an inmate's account.

The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail

Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.

Call the Oceana County Jail first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.

Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.
