Midland County Juvenile Care Center Information

Offering state of the art accommodation, safety, and security for up to 20 juveniles in the area, the Midland County Juvenile Care Center is a part of the probate and juvenile court system. There are spaces provided for other counties who require space for a short term, and all of the juveniles at this location are there for a short term only. The detention unit in the facility has 22 beds and can house juveniles who are between 11 and 18 years old. It is considered to be a maximum security facility and has up to date security systems that allow for the youth to be monitored in all common areas, hallways, and other spaces. School will continue with the public school providing the requirements for the facility, where licensed teachers with special education certifications lead all the classes and help with the homework. Recreation is provided both inside and out, and they receive at least one hour of physical activity each day. Full medical care is provided, as well as drug testing as needed, and psychological services provided, a suicide risk inventory, orientation assessment, and therapy or other treatments as needed. A behavioral assessment is conducted and will be renewed each month, with food services providing healthy meals and religious services are available for those who choose to attend. Visitation: Only parents and grandparents will be approved for visitation, and they must apply through the center by calling 989-837-6093. Visits occur Sunday between 2:30pm and 4pm, as well as Wednesday 6:30pm to 8pm. For families who are unable to travel to the facility telephone visits are provided.
