Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center Information

Overseen by the Macomb County Executive Office, the Macomb Juveniles Justice Center has a 140 bed secure detention center that offers both short term and long term care. It houses youth who are between the ages of 10 and 17 years old, both those who are waiting for their court date or adjudication, and those who have already been adjudicated and were assigned to the facility for a term of detention. During any detention the staff are responsible for the care and education of the juveniles, and this involves many services and programs throughout. Food services provide healthy meals based upon the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program, and they are prepared onsite with a professional staff and commercial kitchen. Mental health services are provided to both those in treatment and those in detention, with mandatory therapy sessions for some and in some, including mandatory family counseling. Medical care is also provided onsite with transportation to offsite locations for additional care as required. Education services are provided by the local public school and ensure that they are able to attend school during their detention. Phones: Juveniles are able to make phone calls to their parents during their provided phone call time, provided they do not lose the privilege due to behavior. News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Macomb County Juvenile Justice Center standards will be disposed of.
