About the Isabella County Correctional Facility

Within Isabella County the arresting and holding location through the Sheriff’s Office is the 196-bed Isabella County Correctional Facility. Upon arrival there is a booking process, and an assessment and classification will take place where all contributing factors are considered and the inmate is placed in either minimum, medium, or maximum security within the building, and their housing assignment to one of the units within that classification will be determined. This assessment will also provide guidance for what mental and medical health services will be needed right away and what programs may benefit them most.

Inmates are offenders arrested in Isabella County that have recently been arrested for a felony or misdemeanor, are awaiting trial, or have been found guilty for their crime(s) and have been sentenced to one year or less.

To determine if someone you know is incarcerated here, you can call 989-772-5915 or use the online lookup.

The Isabella County Correctional Facility also provides each new arrival with their clothing, bedding, hygiene items, and the handbook that explains the rules and regulations as well as all the procedures for their stay and what programs or services are provided.

Within each of the cells is an emergency phone that connects directly with the master control desk and will result in assistance being sent to the location immediately. These phones are not useable for any other purpose.

All of the meals that are cooked for the inmates are based upon nutritional needs, there are health care professionals onsite, mental health counseling and addictions treatments are also offered, along with laundry, recreational activities, educational opportunities, and many others that are designed to not only care for the inmates but prepare them for reentry into their community.

Work programs are in place to allow inmates who qualify to complete work tasks onsite and throughout the county to gain skills, keep busy, and give back to their community, with their efforts allowing them to access additional programs and activities.

To access the purchase of additional items through the commissary an inmate must have a friend or family member who is not incarcerated fund their account online, and they will then be able to order the necessary items.

Inmates are also able to remain in contact with people who are not in jail through the postal service, with all mail being checked for contraband before it enters or leaves the facility, including stickers, planning of illegal activities, pictures that are sexual in any way, glue, make-up, and other items. All incoming mail must be a postcard only.

Phones are found throughout the common areas of the housing units and may be accessed any time during the day that there is free time for the inmate, and these calls are only outgoing, and funded online. It is also through these phones that inmates are able to check their voicemail, commissary amounts, charges, bond, release and court dates, and their visitation.

Each inmate will provide a list of people who they are willing to see for visitation, and only those on the list will be allowed to visit. Each visit is 20 minutes in length, with one visit being available in the lobby each week. Visits at the location are 5:00pm-9:00pm every day, and remote visits from home can occur between 8:00am and 9:00pm every day, with maximum security cells having set days of #2 on Monday and Tuesday, #3 on Wednesday and Thursday, and #4 on Friday and Saturday. Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Isabella County Correctional Facility?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Isabella County Correctional Facility uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Isabella County Correctional Facility first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.

To do this you will need the inmate's offender # (inmate ID #) and full legal name.
