It consists of several floors and is constructed of concrete and red brick with 13 housing units. Housing units are created by a total of 453 cells, some individual and others double occupancy, resulting in 654 beds throughout.
It has been updated with the latest security technology and the cameras are monitored constantly.
Rated as a maximum security jail, it houses pretrial inmates and consists of a transportation department that helps to move inmates from facility to facility as well as to court dates, has a full kitchen that serves three balanced meals each day, laundry for clean bedding and clothing, full cleaning and maintenance crews, a medical area to care for those who need medical care, provide prescriptions, and mental health professionals that provide counseling and treatments as needed.
Inmates who have an upcoming court date may have their day clothes from the property room switched for court appropriate clothing during operating hours of the main office, which occur 7am-2:15pm and 3pm-9pm.

Video Visitation allows 'approved' friends, family members, attorneys and clergy of an inmate to connect with them using their computer, Securus Video Visitation app, or ‘on-site’ kiosk.

Costs vary and are subject to change, but generally visits range from $5.00 to $15.00 for a 15 to 30 minute online or on-site video visit.
How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?
The Securus system knows the times that Nashua Street Jail inmates are available for remote video visits.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Nashua Street Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Nashua Street Jail standards will be disposed of.
