⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessBuilt of red brick and standing proudly with a well landscaped front entrance, the 1600-bed Plymouth County Correctional Facility is operated by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office and houses both male and female inmates as a part of their commitment to the safety of the community and the humane care and control of offenders throughout Plymouth County.
Each inmate is encouraged to engage in programming and activities, provided that will build their skills and provide them with the tools to build a successful future after their release.
Upon arrival and booking an assessment is completed to determine the level of securtiy at which an inmate will be held, and they will always begin at the lowest level that is acceptable for their criminal history and past detentions, moving them to higher level security areas only as needed.
For education there is a GED program, reading and literature, math, computers, public speaking, and life skills.
The reentry program provides advocates and case managers to help find clothing, to prepare child support, to access programs for food or SNAP benefits, assist in finding housing and jobs, mental health referrals, license renewals and substance abuse treatment as well as transportation needs to ensure they can maintain their housing and employment. Anger management, batterer’s intervention, criminality class, and other programs address additional concerns, along with substance abuse treatments during incarceration.

After being arrested, the offender is brought to the Plymouth County Correctional Facility for booking, which is the detailed process of identifying, classifying, deciding on charges, and whether the person will either be released on their own recognizance, allowed to be released on bail, or moved into the jail until their court date.
