⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessAlong with the 502-bed Norfolk County Correctional Center the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office is also responsible for several other programs and services for offenders both within and outside of the correctional center. Within this facility are several housing units, a medical area, laundry, food services, and recreational areas throughout the sprawling expanse of the stark white building, which takes the entire space between the highways that surround it.
Reentry programs offer support for all of the inmates who are leaving the facility, which has an average sentence of 3 months, to assist them in reintegrating into their community, with a focus on the reentry programming beginning upon their first arrival and classification.
During booking a classification process is completed to gather information about the current charges, past charges, and any history of behavior in incarceration, which is used to determine the housing assignment. Their housing assignment will consider both security needs and who the inmate will be interacting with daily, providing the best assignment for their success. Anger management, substance abuse, and domestic violence treatments and educational programs are all provided to inmates to make their time productive and reduce recidivism rates for those who are released.
Community Service, Educational Programs including adult basic education, religious services, self-help programs, and vocational programs to provide employable skills, are all accessible to each of the offenders as soon as they are processed and apply for the programs that fit them best.
Inmates are also encouraged to remain engaged with their support community while they are incarcerated, and this may include their own mental and medical care providers, their attorneys, and their family and friends.
Through a phone account they can make outgoing calls to those who are registered during their free hours, and inmates may provide a list of visitors they wish to see. Those who are approved for visits after completing the application form, can create an account for video visits as well. Inmates are provided with one 45 minute visit each week, with children permitted only on a weekend visit. Times and days of visits are based upon the housing assignment and should be checked with the inmate or the facility before arrival, with visits being between 6:15pm and 9pm each day, and visits provided each day of the week for the assigned unit.
The post office delivers mail to the office every weekday, and it can be addressed to:

Video Visitation allows 'approved' friends, family members, attorneys and clergy of an inmate to connect with them using their computer, Securus Video Visitation app, or ‘on-site’ kiosk.
Steps:
Register and/or log in.
Select the facility of your inmate.
Review the days, available hours and the cost of remote and on-site visits.
Schedule your visit.
What is the Cost of a Remote Video Visit?
Costs vary and are subject to change, but generally visits range from $5.00 to $15.00 for a 15 to 30 minute online or on-site video visit.
How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?
The Securus system knows the times that Norfolk County Correctional Center inmates are available for remote video visits.
It will not allow you to schedule a visit with your inmate if they are not available or the video visitation kiosk(s) in the jail are booked already.
Once you schedule a visit with your inmate they will be notified of the date and time of the visit.
Important Tips:
Your entire visit is being monitored and recorded. Do not say or do anything that you would not want being replayed in court.
You should schedule your visit, in advance, at a time that works best for you.
For best sound quality, use earbuds or headsets.
