This facility replaced a 160 bed jail that was run down, and inadequate in size, forcing the Livingston Sheriff at that time to house inmates at other parishes.
As it is, they are already overcrowded and are either going to have to release some of the non-violent inmates they now jail, or build an expansion to the back or side of the current facility.
