About the Cameron Parish Jail

The Jail, located within the Cameron Parish Law Enforcement Complex, was built in 2015. It has a capacity to hold up to 88 inmates, including up to 16 women, 26 men (maximum security), 20 men (minimum security), 8 juveniles, 4 medical, 2 isolation blocks (holding 2 each), and 10 holding cells.

There are three ways to post a bond for someone in jail. You can choose from the following options:

  1. PROPERTY BOND: To post a property bond, you must visit the Tax Assessor Office to obtain a description of the property you intend to use for the bond. You need to provide the bond amount and check if the property covers the bond. Once you have the necessary paperwork, bring it to the Clerk of Courts Office to check for any judgments on the property. After completing these steps, submit the paperwork to the Jail.

  2. CASH BOND: To post a cash bond, you need to pay the entire bond amount in cash.

  3. SURETY BOND: A surety bond involves a bondsman posting the bond to secure the release of the inmate. You will need to pay the bondsman 12% of the bond amount, along with any additional fees they charge.

Visitation for inmates takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm. Each inmate is allowed up to 2 visits on each visitation day. Please note that no cell phones, purses, or handbags are permitted in the visitation area. Ensure that you secure your personal belongings in your vehicle. Visitors are also required to pass through a metal detector before entering the visitation area and must present a form of identification. Correctional Officers will escort the inmates for their visits.

When an inmate arrives at the facility, they have 4 days to receive the following listed items after being booked into the Cameron Jail:

For Males:

  • 3 pairs of white socks
  • 3 pairs of boxers
  • 3 white t-shirts

For Females:

  • 3 pairs of underwear
  • 3 white t-shirts
  • 3 pairs of white socks

No hygiene products or food items are allowed. The Cameron Jail provides soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, razors, towels, and washcloths upon booking. Inmates are allowed to order other approved items they may need or want from the commissary.

Inmates can have money deposited into their commissary account in the form of a money order made out to the inmate. Cash is not accepted. Commissary orders are processed every Wednesday morning at 9 am, and the money must be posted to the inmate's account by 8 am on Wednesday morning.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

The Cameron Parish Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Cameron Parish Jail standards will be disposed of.
