The Scott County Detention Center maintains a full staff and ensures access to full medical and mental health care through staff or contracts with providers within the community.
In addition to their basic needs, including three meals a day and clean laundry, recreation, and other care, there are additional programs to provide opportunities for growth through GED, therapy, church services, and more. An inmate work detail allows inmates who qualify to provide community service in the manner of litter pick up, landscaping, and other small tasks throughout the county.

Inmates are able to make outgoing calls each day during their dayroom hours or free time. Visits must be scheduled by phone or through the facility itself at least the day before the visit, between 9:00am and 1:00pm, with visits being booked to occur on Wednesday and Saturday. Each visit is 30 minutes long, and inmates may have a visit on each of the approved visiting days.
