About the Scott County Detention Center

Standing proudly in red brick, the Scott County Detention Center is the responsibility of the Sheriff’s Department for Scott County. Inmates at this 86 bed location, built in 1991, have been charged with a felony or a misdemeanor and will be waiting for their trial or serving their sentence regardless of length.

Information about inmate location and bail is available by calling the facility at 502-863-7880 or the online lookup.

Allowing inmates to serve sentences within their own community allows them to remain in closer contact with their friends and family and they will receive more visits than those who are further away.

The Scott County Detention Center maintains a full staff and ensures access to full medical and mental health care through staff or contracts with providers within the community.

In addition to their basic needs, including three meals a day and clean laundry, recreation, and other care, there are additional programs to provide opportunities for growth through GED, therapy, church services, and more. An inmate work detail allows inmates who qualify to provide community service in the manner of litter pick up, landscaping, and other small tasks throughout the county.

A commissary permits inmates who have funds in their account to purchase hygiene items, snacks, and other items.

Mail can be sent to inmates provided it follows all the regulations and rules surrounding mail including no contraband, no Polaroid pictures, food, illicit images, or other items. Mail is sent to:
