Weathering a recent closure and planning for a reopening, the Campbell Regional Juvenile Detention Center houses female juvenile offenders, and they were all transferred to the Boyd County facility until it can reopen. During their stay at either location, the youth will receive the same services and be treated equally by the staff and other students. Each weekday begins with time for personal hygiene and ensuring their space is tidy, followed by classes that are continuations of their schooling at their local public school. They will also receive an assessment upon arrival that will ensure that all medical needs are met, any prescriptions are provided as directed, and they will receive all mental health care that they need. The focus of the facility is to rehabilitate the juveniles and provide them with the tools and skills they need for a successful future and to avoid future incarcerations. Recreational time is provided, and there is adequate hours for rest to support both physical and mental health, as well as exercise and physical education being included within the programs.
