Breathitt Regional Juvenile Detention Center Information

Within Kentucky there are eight youth detention centers with three housing juvenile males who are over 14 years old and are facing serious charges or violent charges, three that house juvenile males under 14 years of age, and one that houses juvenile females. By keeping them separate each will receive the security and care that is required of their specific circumstances and each individual will have the safest experience possible. The facilities have transportation programs in place that allow for the juveniles to be taken to and from court dates and other locations, relieving the local Sheriff’s Office or law enforcement from that task. All other needs are also provided, with food being provided throughout the day and meals being healthy and balanced, medical care is available onsite for both ongoing medical conditions and sudden needs, and mental health care is provided for all youth and in many cases for the family as well. Social skills are practiced with both other students and the staff, and life skills such as responsibility, discipline, understanding, and planning are all able to develop in the supportive environment of the detention center. Mail: 2725 KY-15, Jackson, KY 41339, United States Mail must meet the requirements of being addressed with the juveniles' first and last name along with booking number, have a full return address and name of sender, and be delivered through the postal system.
