Trego County Youth Center Information

Trego County Youth Center performs more services for the county than just detention, offering several atlernatives and tracking the cases of juveniles ot ensure they are appearing to their court dates, monitoring probation or home detention, and working with families to find solutions that fit their needs. It operates under the supervision of the Northwest Kansas Juvenile Services program to help hold juveniles accountable for their behaviors and to improve future choices, build life skills and coping skills, as well as to improve their social skills. Within the facility there are both male and female juveniles who are aged between 10 years of age and 17. Both youth and staff are focused on rehabilitation rather than punishment, and there are main areas in which there are opportunities for growth presented. Education is provided in cooperation with the local schoolboard to keep juveniles on track with their grades and credits, and these easily transfer back to their home school. Medical care is provided including giving daily prescriptions that are present and care for any illness or injury that occurs in the facility. Staff keep the building secure and safe for each of the juveniles and cameras and staff work around the clock to monitor the juveniles and their interactions. Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Trego County Youth Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
