The Shawnee County Adult Detention Center in Kansas is responsible for housing individuals who have been arrested for violating city, state, and federal laws. The facility has an inmate handbook that outlines the Department's expectations of inmates while they are incarcerated. The facility also provides medical services to inmates. There are separate modules for male and female inmates who are on close observation status and/or suicide watch. The center is a secure facility that houses inmates and is committed to providing the highest level of safety and security for employees, inmates, and the community. In the summer of 2023 the Shawnee County Commissioners approved requests to begin negotiations and building designs for a new $18 million mental health living unit at the county jail. How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?
