⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessFound right in the center of Liberal, Kansas, the 122-bed Seward County Law Enforcement Center is a large multistory concrete building with windows and a large entrance on the front to welcome visitors and staff, and a windowless expanse on the back. The building is attached to the brick and stone courthouse, allowing for easy and safe transportation of offenders to all court dates.
The Sheriff’s Office operates the Seward County Law Enforcement Center and it is here that all of their arrests are processed and booked, with an assessment to determine medical needs, mental health requirements, and a determination on where they should be housed within. Both misdemeanor and felony offenders will wait for their trail or bail here, with those who are sentenced to short sentences remaining here to serve them, the majority of offenders are within the jail for under a year.
The online inmate roster provides an up to date listing of the current inmates, their charges, their bail, and other details and any questions regarding visitation or other rules can be directed to the receptionist during business hours 8:00am-5:00pm, by calling 620-309-2000.
Care is provided in the way of healthy meals three times each day, clean laundry and bedding, recreational spaces and activities, medical care for all needs both newly appearing and ongoing, and mental health care. Inmates are able to remain in contact with their family members and their friends throughout their incarceration through mail, and by phone and visits.
Incoming calls are not accepted, but they can receive mail and visits, with all mail being checked for contraband before it is delivered and before it is sent out in reply.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Seward County Law Enforcement Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
