The small Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center houses under 10 students as they await their first court appearance and detention hearing. Any juvenile who it is anticipated will not appear for their court dates will be held in detention pending those dates and will be released only if they are determined innocent of the charges or if the court is confident that they will return for future court dates. Only law enforcement or the court may admit someone to the facility, and they will be kept only if they are in danger or a danger to someone else, if the charges are repeat charges or serious, or if they are waiting to be transferred to another location. Juveniles may be arrested on a warrant or under suspicion of a delinquent act. Each of the meals are provided and they are planned to be healthy and meet the nutritional needs of all of the residents. Medical care is provided and mental health care such as group or individual therapy is common. Recreation time allows individuals to write letters, read books, do homework, call family members, or work on other tasks. Juvenile detention is only used when alternatives have not been affected, and those who are in this facility remain only for a short term period. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center standards will be disposed of. 
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
