Each pod has a central control station and a common room. It is the main jail in Jay County, Indiana, and hosts minimum, medium and maximum security inmates. The facility was originally constructed in 1984 and underwent renovations and additions to relieve overcrowding over the past several decades.
Both the Jay County Jail and the Jay County Sheriff Office are located in the Jay County Security Center.
