Within the building there are several housing areas, 198 beds are general population which also allow for segregation or protective custody as needed, 14 for intake, 1 padded cell, 1 medical isolation cell, and 1 intake cell for holding several intoxicated people or for use in case of overflow, and 28 of the beds are assigned for female inmates.
A registered nurse is available for medical care and a physician is on contract as needed, as well all mental health care is provided, nutrition, laundry, recreation, and other programs and activities.
Online access is provided for people to access a list of inmates and their status, and staff are able to answer some questions over the phone about a specific inmate along with visiting rules and bail instructions at 812-738-2195.
A work release program allows inmates who are approved to continue with their job or education during incarceration provided they are able to safely get to and from the jail for their work shift each day. News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher.
