The Clark County Juvenile Detention Center is located in the city of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and opened in August 1991. It is a 14-bed, secure facility and is located inside the Clark County courthouse.

This medium security facility houses the youth and young offenders who are arrested within Clark County, and they may accept youth from other areas as needed. It has a maximum capacity of 15, and uses those spaces to house both male and female youth. Housing units are used to keep the male and female detainees separated from each other, and they are provided a safe and secure location to stay. Staff undergo extensive training to provide the needed support for all juveniles in the facility. Educational needs are met and there are teachers onsite to provide classes in the classrooms. There are also medical spaces where all medical needs are met, and medication is provided as needed and according to the prescriptions provided.

The facility consists of a main control station, classroom, and small kitchen, 2- dayroom areas, an indoor game room, an outside recreation area, library, laundry room, and medical room. An additional single-bed cell is located near the control room and is used for isolation and observation purposes.

Meals are balanced and nutritious and served three times a day with snack foods as needed. Reading is promoted with access to books in the small library, and youth are permitted to read during the regular recreational time, as well as play games and access the outdoor recreation space. Phone calls are allowed at least one day each week but often more frequently, only parents and guardians may accept calls. Visitation: Each youth is provided at least one visit each week with parents or guardians.
