Allen County Juvenile Center Information

The Allen County Juvenile Center has 6 housing units for male and female detainees who are aged 14 to 18 years old. A separate housing unit is also present for youth who have been moved to adult court, so they will remain apart from the rest of the juveniles. Other housing units are created based upon gender and age. Both indoor and outdoor recreation and exercise is available, and one hour of exercise is provided each day. An activity night offers an opportunity to watch a movie with the other students. Four teachers are on staff to provide all educational needs, with classes beginning at 7:30am and ending at 2:35pm. The full kitchen staff ensure that ll meals are served, with breakfast by 7:15am, lunch by 12:20pm and supper by 5:20pm. Full health care is provided, and students will be transported to all medical appointments and provided with prescription medication as required. Mail: Letters are checked for content and inappropriate materials. Youth are provided with 2 stamps each week for letters and may write more if the family provides additional postage. Phone: Juveniles will have access to phones daily to make phone calls to their parents and other approved contacts. Visitation: One visit is provided each week, and they will be 45 minutes long. Visits are booked through the facility at (260) 449-8449. Visiting schedules are varied by housing unit and occur and will occur at different times on Sundays, with the earliest being 11:45am and the latest at 7:30pm.

The Allen County Juvenile Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
