About the Kane County Adult Justice Center

Covering 236,000 square feet, the Kane County Adult Justice Center is the main housing and incarceration center for Kane County.  

Providing services for all of the county and local law enforcement to provide their incarceration and detention needs. There are 640 beds for inmates of all security levels.

For questions about the presence or location of an inmate, to confirm visitation, or other questions, the front office can be reached at 630-232-6677.

Several programs are in place to assist in the rehabilitation of residents including work programs that offer onsite work tasks, community service, and work release for jobs offsite, parenting classes, substance abuse and use programs, a library and law library, along with medical and mental health treatments. Each program is designed for Kane County Adult Justice Center and addresses the needs of the residents in the building while considering the surrounding community.  

Residents are encouraged not only to face their past decisions but to find new ways to make future decisions, improve their life skills and further develop social skills to create the life they want after their incarceration.  

Included in rehabilitation is working on maintaining healthy relationships with family and friends, which is done through mail, phone calls, and visitation.

Mail will be checked for contraband, and to ensure the safety of the facility, and is delivered every weekday by the postal service. Mail is sent to the inmate at the facility with their id number and full name, must contain a full name of sender, and the return address, to:

Residents may make outgoing phone calls, but the system does not accept incoming calls. Phones and other expenses can be funded online, and inmates will be able to access it for their needs during incarceration.

Each resident must also create a visitor list which may include a spouse, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, and their grandchildren, who will be allowed to visit via video visitations at the visitation center.   • The first step in the visitation process is for the Detainee to complete an "Approved Visitors List."  The list is comprised of individual names that the Detainee has requested and is allowed to receive visitors.
  • Only immediate family members on the Detainee's "Approved Visitors List" may visit with a Detainee.
  • Second, you must register and schedule an appointment to visit an inmate with IC Solutions.
  • Visits have to be scheduled at least 3 days in advance. Visitation times are subject to change.
  • Each Detainee is allowed one (1) visiting group per week. The visiting group may consist of three (3) persons in any of the following combinations.
    - One (1) adult.
    - One (1) adult and one (1) child.
    - Two (2) adults and one (1) child.

  • Each visiting group is thirty (30) minutes in length.  You may only visit one (1) detainee per day.  

  • All visitors must arrive fifteen (15) minutes prior to the scheduled visitation start time in order to check in. Visitors not arriving 15 minutes prior​ to the scheduled start time will not be allowed their visit.

  • All visitors must possess a valid government issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, or State issued ID card.

  • All children (under the age of eighteen (18)) must be accompanied by an adult and shall possess a copy of the child's birth certificate.

Video Visitation Rules
Understanding the rules completely are the responsibility of both you and your inmate. Not knowing the rules will NOT be accepted as an excuse if you make a mistake and violate them. Disobeying them could result in being banned from have future visits.
•    Any inmate or visitor whose behavior is disruptive during a visit may have his/her visiting privileges suspended/terminated.
•    All visits are subject to monitoring and recording.
•    All visits must be scheduled 6 hours prior to the appointment or up to 13 days in advance.
•    You must check-in 15 minutes prior to the scheduled visit.
•    Valid picture identification (e.g., driver's license, State I.D., or Military I.D. with picture) is required of all visitors, with the exception of children under the age of 17.  
•    Visitors under the age of 17 must be accompanied and supervised by an authorized adult visitor.
•    Visitors who 'arrive' after the scheduled start time may not be allowed to visit.
•    Clothing must cover all private/sensitive body areas.
•    The visitation schedule may be canceled or altered on holidays or for safety/security reasons.
•    Kane County Adult Justice Center can disconnect, deny, change, or cancel a visit at any time.
•    Internet connectivity issues during offsite visits will NOT be refunded.
•    Each visitation session will show a timer to display elapsed time.
•    After your visit has ended your connection will be terminated automatically.

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Kane County Adult Justice Center?

There are four options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person. 
You will use a self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online using Touchpay

The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Mailing an Inmate

How do I Mail an Inmate in the Kane County Adult Justice Center, and what can I send them?

Postcards
The Kane County Adult Justice Center allows inmates to receive pre-metered postcards like the type purchased from the post office. They may also allow certain photo postcards as long as they have not been tampered with or contain images that may be considered to be obscene or violent in nature.

Envelopes
The Kane County Adult Justice Center allows envelopes to be mailed to inmates as well. They must be white. All mail must have a full return address in top left corner of envelope.

Legal Mail
Legal Mail is mail to and from attorneys, law enforcement, government leaders, caseworkers, probation officers.

Inmate Money Order
Money orders sent through the mail to the Kane County Adult Justice Center are accepted and deposited in the Detainee Fund Account.  
Money orders must be in submitted in increments of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) or less.  
Money orders of Fifty One Dollars ($51.00) or more will not be accepted.
Money orders must be completed in full. Include the Detainee's legal name and Detainee ID Number, as well as the sender's signature and information.  Personal checks are not accepted.

Newspapers
Local or national newspapers may also be mailed to the inmate as long as they are mailed directly from the newspaper publisher.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Kane County Adult Justice Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address above.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Kane County Adult Justice Center standards will be disposed of. No more than two books may be shipped at any one time.
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.

Do Inmates in the Kane County Adult Justice Center have Access to Tablets or Computers?

Kane County Adult Justice Center may now offer IC Solutions Tablet Rentals to their inmates.

  
IC Solutions is the same company that handles inmate phone systems, video visitations, email and texting and digital letters.

The tablets can be rented on a monthly basis and while not directly connected to the internet, the inmates can use them for the following activities:

  • Phone Calls - Inmates may make calls directly from their tablet allowing for more privacy. The rates are the same as the phones in the unit, and the calls are still recorded and monitored.
  • eMessaging - Communicate via a text based message or picture. Fee based system.
  • Education - Free educational platform and course catalog that provides thousands of educational resources.
  • Self Help -Inmates have daily access to mental health and addiction recovery programming.
  • Music - Top-40, Hip-Hop, Country, Rock, Gospel, and more.
  • Law Library -  Legal research with up-to-date case information.
  • eBooks - Thousands of available titles.
  • Religion - Religious resources for spiritual guidance.
  • Games - Inmates can play their favorite games. Available through monthly subscriptions
  • Facility Services - Digital access to submitted forms, requests, facility documents, and notifications from staff.

Here's how it works:

  • Register here.  It is recommended you use Chrome or Firefox.
  • Pay for the subscription.
  • You get charged the 1st of each month. 
  • You get charged a full month even if it's only used for a partial month.
  • No activation or early termination fees.
  • Your inmate will recieve their tablet in 3-5 business days, after you pay.
