Sharing a sprawling, red brick building of only one story with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the 65-bed Christian County Correctional Center provides safe and secure detention for all misdemeanor or felony offenders throughout the county and houses them both as they wait for their trial and as they serve a sentence that is under one year in length. It is locatted on the corner of W. Franklin and S. Webster Streets in Taylorville, Illinois.
If you are concerned that someone you know may be in the jail, the staff can be contacted directly to answer questions or note concerns for an inmate by calling 217-824-4961 and an online roster is maintained for access at any time.
The Christian County Correctional Center, in addition to offenders arrested locally, also houses federal inmates.
All of the basic needs for physical and mental health are provided including clothing and bedding, laundry, three healthy meals a day, exercise and recreation, social interactions, and access to substance use treatment and other rehabilitative programs.
There is also contact maintained with both friends and family through the mail, outgoing phone calls, and visits.
