Valley County Juvenile Detention Center Information

The Valley County Juvenile Detention Center is operated by the Juvenile Probation Department. The department provides several services in addition to the detention center including intensive supervision, tracking, diversion programs, electronic monitoring for home detention, and drug testing. All attempts possible are made to avoid detention, with it being the last option for youth who have not found success with the other programs. The Juvenile Corrections System is based on a specific approach to rehabilitation that focuses on balance; accountability, competency development, and protecting the community. Along with this effort, the family is mandated through the State of Idaho to actively participate in the rehabilitation of their youth including attending counseling or other treatments as required. Treatments for medical and mental health concerns or diagnosis are supported throughout their detention and their time involved with the probation department. Even after serving a sentence there is support offered to help prevent recidivism and to support the family as well. Youth will be provided with healthy meals, education, and treatments as needed, allowing them to remain healthy and focused during their detention.
