Snake River Juvenile Detention Center Information

Through a structured environment and daily routines, the Snake River Juvenile Detention Center teaches responsibility, discipline, and self-reliance. Opportunities are provided each day for the youth to care for themselves and their hygiene, school is provided on the weekdays to ensure they are continuing their education, as well as time and space for physical education and exercise as well as recreation. Each of the meals is provided and will follow the federal nutrition guidelines, meeting all nutritional needs of each of the students. Opportunities arise to interact with both staff and other residents, which encourages the development of strong and more positive social skills. Life skills develop while they are in the facility, and this can lead to a more successful future after their release. It houses just under 30 students, but there are often fewer residents, with it rarely nearing capacity. Detention often occurs directly after arrest while awaiting the first court date to determine if they will remain in detention until their sentencing or if they will be released. (Until further notice)

1. The Snake River Juvenile Detention Center is currently allowing family visits by video until further notice, please call (208) 736-2588 to schedule a visit. If calling after regular business hours choose option 6 from the recorded message.

2. When scheduling a video visit we will need a valid email address from the parent or guardian as well as the names of everyone that you want to participate in the video.
3. Video visits will last 30 minutes due to limited computers and limited time allowed on the video platform being used.
4. We are currently using Zoom for video visits. You can download Zoom for free onto your PC or cell phone from here: https://zoom.us/download.
5. Once you have scheduled a video visit, a ZOOM link will be sent to the email your provided to staff shortly before your scheduled time. Please be watching for it.
6. Only those you originally signed up at the time you scheduled a visit will be allowed on the video. If staff see an unauthorized visitor on the video, the visit can be terminated.
