⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessSince opening in 1998 the Bonner County Detention Facility has been the main detention center for Bonner County and houses up to 124 inmates who are facing charges of felony or misdemeanors or are serving a short sentence. Basic information on inmates that are considered public information is available by phone at 208 263-8417 or through the online look up.
Within Bonner County Detention Facility there are two pods, there are also 4 dorms, 3 high security cells, a medical observation cell, two dorms for female inmates, 4 holding cells for temporary holding during booking and other processes, and a dorm for the work release inmates. During any length of incarceration, the staff and jail are responsible for both the safety of the inmates and staff as well as the community, and the care of the inmates.
To properly care for inmates, staff deliver meals, follow up on housing assignments, provide prescribed medications, transport inmates as needed, deliver and collect mail, secure areas, intervene if incidents are occurring, and look out for the welfare of inmates.
Some of the residents are approved to engage in tasks around the campus and may be employed during incarceration. Inmates are able to join the labor program and complete tasks for the county and the Bonner County Detention Facility, others can maintain their outside employment and leave the complex each day for work and return afterwards.
Other programs include GED, AA/NA, religious programs, educational programs, library access, and preparation for employment. A commissary program allows inmates to access purchases for snacks, recreational items, clothing, and other necessities where family or friends are able to add funds to their account.
