Wakulla County Juvenile Detention Center Information

Wakulla County is one of the several counties that are partners in the regional facility known as the Leon Regional Juvenile Detention Center. It is a facility that has been designed to encourage a positive atmosphere, intended to be similar to a home or a school rather than to a prison or jail facility. While the safety and security of a detention center is maintained, open areas, comfortable seating, and classrooms are all designed to create a safe space for change and growth rather than one focused on punishment. Full classes are provided by licensed teachers and the local schoolboard, along with opportunities to learn about financial management, develop improved social skills, learn new life skills, and engage in physical activity to boost both physical and mental health. Both indoor and outdoor recreation areas are provided, and there is free time each day for youth to finish homework, play games with other students, or read books and letters. Mail: All letters and mail are delivered by the postal services to the facility and there it is checked for contraband. 2303 Ronellis Drive Tallahassee, FL 32310 Phones: Access to phones is provided for weekly or more frequent calls to parents and guardians.
