About the Orange County Booking & Release Center

Within the Orange County Corrections Department there are several detention centers including the Orange County Booking and Release Center, the Female Detention Center, Horizon Facility, Genesis Facility, Phoenix Facility, and the Whitcomb Facility for direct supervision units, the Work Release Center, and the Main Jail Facility.

The Booking and Release Center provides specific services to the community and to the Department of Corrections. It is at this facility that the booking and processing for the county occur, as well as where inmates will remain until their first appearance, but also for the release of inmates at the end of their sentence or if they are found to be innocent. Bail may be posted at this location around the clock, and inmates are admitted at any time they are surrendered by law enforcement.

This facility consists of 592 beds for the temporary housing of both male and female inmates, and its front windows that allow large amounts of light and the open space lobby is less intimidating for visitors than other facilities may be. Twelve housing units make up the housing options for the detainees, and this will be where those who are not able to be released or bonded out before their trial will remain until their first court date. There is an orientation on site, as well as housing for inmates who are working, for require special medical care, and those who require special mental health treatment, a medical clinic that includes a pharmacy as well as a x-ray and dialysis areas, and a space for ultrasounds.

Courtrooms located on the fourth floor ensure that all who have court dates will be able to attend them without requiring transport to the courthouse. With direct supervision there are staff and safety officers within each of the housing pods where they will interact with the inmates each day and provide positive social interactions.

Bonds are payable in money order, certified cheque, Western Union, or traveler cheque at the public windows in the facility at 3855 South John Young Parkway, Orlando, FL 32839. For expedited bonds it is necessary to appear with the person who is turning themselves in at the lobby between 8am and 2pm, at which time their fingerprints and photograph may be taken in the lobby, allowing for bail to be paid immediately, and they will be released without entering the rest of the facility.

All visits are currently via video visitation, and there is a visitation station, or they can be done online from home. The Video Visitation Center is found at 3000 39th Street, Orlando, Florida, 32839, and this is the center for all facilities within the county, and visits are booked by calling 407-836-8061 at least one full day in advance between the hours of 9:30am and 8:30pm. After registering for visits the first time all future visits may be scheduled online.

Along with video visits, phone calls (calls are $0.145/minute) are through the GTL program and an account is created online.

Inmates are also able to receive mail, including paperback books, when addressed appropriately and containing no additional material, blank paper or envelopes, stationary, adult content, or other additions.

First Visit

  • Visitors MUST call to schedule the first appointment at least ONE DAY in advance.
  • Call 407-836-8061 to schedule appointments. Phone lines are open for scheduling from 9:30AM to 8:30PM.
  • Each visitor will be issued a unique visitor ID number, which must be provided when scheduling visits.
  • Arrive to visits at least 15 minutes early.
  • Bring your valid driver's license, passport or state and/or military ID.

Subsequent Visits

  • After your first visit you can schedule visits online.
  • The first time you access the scheduling website and enter your email address, you will need to click on "Forgot your password?". Your password will be sent to you via the email address you provided. After you receive your password, you will be able to log on and schedule visits by following the prompts on the screen.
  • If you experience problems with the system, contact the Visitation Center at 407-836-8061.
  • Inmates are allowed three video visits per week. Each inmate is permitted a maximum of three visitors per session. This total will not exceed two adult visitors per session. 
  • Visitors with small children will be permitted to retain one baby bottle, and one blanket per child. 
  • The Video Visitation Center is open every day from 9:00AM to 10:00PM with the last visit starting at 9:00PM.
