Marion Regional Juvenile Detention Center Information

Located in Ocala, Floriday, the Marion Regional Juvenile Detention Center houses up to 60 juveniles from the counties of Marion, Citrus, Hernando, Lake, and Sumter. Juveniles are held at this location if they have been arrested and are waiting for their first court date to determine their release or detention, are waiting to hear their sentencing and judgement, or if they are serving a short sentence. The average stay is only 13 days, during which they will be following a strict routine that instills discipline, responsibility, and helps to improve social skills and interactions. Youth will focus on learning the skills and knowledge they require to be healthy and successful adults, rejoin their family and strengthen family bonds and friendships, and be confident in their own abilities. Each youth is provided with the tools that they require to make the life that they want. Staff are present 24/7 and ensure that each of the students are in a safe environment and able to do the things that they need to do, and that they are kept secure for both their own security and that of others. Throughout their stay healthy meals are provided, as well as clothing and laundry, hygiene items, and both physical education and recreational time. Mail: Any mail must be sent through the postal system with a full return address and may not be dropped off at the facility directly. All contraband will be disposed of or returned to the sender. 3040 NW 10th Street, Ocala, FL 34475 Phones: Telephone calls are a key way to keep in contact with families and phones are made available at least once a week and as often as each day for youth to call their parents or guardians. Other phone numbers may be approved on a case by case basis. Visitation: Family are encouraged to visit and parents, guardians, and grandparents are all preapproved for visits and encouraged to visit as often as possible. Visiting hours are Wednesday 7-8pm and Saturday 1-2pm.
