About the Escambia County Work Annex

The Escambia County Work Annex is a county run work center that allows inmates who have earned it, the ability to work in an outside environment and at the same time, earn some money to help them with their transition to being released. 

The Work Annex house approximately 125 inmates who work in various county departments such as Escambia County's Road Department, Solid Waste, Parks and Recreation, Animal Shelter, and Facilities Maintenance.

The inmates are supervised by corrections officers who also do work clearing rights of way, grounds maintenance, drainage projects, and road and stormwater maintenance. Work Annex inmates also work at the Correctional Facility in food service, and the building and grounds maintenance. Inmate labor is also used in farming, hydroponics and aquaculture programs, all which produce food for incarcerated inmates, saving tremendous cost to the county.

Do Inmates in the Escambia County Work Annex have Access to Tablets or Computers?

Escambia County Work Annex allows inmates access to tablets to use for the services provided by 'gettingout'.


The devices are similar to common handheld tablets, but are made exclusively by GettingOut, a GTL / Viapath company.
Tablets offer specialized content and services for inmates to use during their stay at Escambia County Work Annex, such as:
