About the Charlotte County Jail

The Charlotte County Jail is located at 26601 Airport Road in South Charlotte County, in the city of Punta Gorda, Florida, and is designed to house 1,074 inmates. Since it was built it never has really exceeded more than 750 people incarcerated at any one time, but given the growth of the state, eventually the jail will unfortunately reach full occupancy. The facility itself, which opened in February of 2001, is a direct supervision jail. The Charlotte County Jail is a full service facility with kitchen, laundry, medical and dental services. The facility is also equipped with a video courtroom for first appearances, arraignments and bond hearings, which saves the Sheriff's office time and money moving inmates back and forth to the Charlotte County Courthouse.

The Charlotte County Sheriff's office maintains a comprehensive online database of current and past arrests where you look up offenders by their name, case number, gender, date of arrest, ethnic group and criminal charges. It is one of the most detailed inmate search and jail roster databases of any county in the state of Florida.

The Charlotte County Jail runs several rehabilitative programs for the inmates; Anger Management, Substance Abuse, AA, NA, Parenting, and Domestic Violence. They also do other things such as coordinating with local retailers to accept donations of wilted or dying plants. These plants are then revitalized and repurposed to non-profit and county events throughout the year.

The Jail provides video visitation, both on-site (in the video visitation center) and remotely (at your home from your own device) for inmates to stay in touch with their families and friends. The visitation schedule can be found in the section below this one and on our Inmate visitation page.

You can receive phone calls from an inmate, send them money and commissary, exchange mail and even email mail using an online service.  All of this is detailed in the sections below on this page. If you still have questions after reviewing the information below, call the jail 24 hours a day at 941-833-6300 .
